What is on Offer
The HIVE STEAM Package
With this package, you can book any 10 workshops from the following:
- Coding Station
Move with Marty - We will introduce or extend your pupils knowledge of ScratchJr using our lovable Marty Robots. Pupils will code movement and use loops to perform a number of functions with their robots culminating in a huge dance off at the end of the session. (Recommended for KS1/KS2 classes)
- Design & Create
3D Models - Using TinkerCAD, pupils will be guided in the creation of objects within a 3D environment. They will be advised on the correct manipulation of objects to ensure a successful print on our 3D printers.
Choose from 2 Design & Create options:
Option 1: Name Badges - Pupils will be shown how to design and build their own name badge which can then have a keyring attached. Printing will commence during the session and continue once the group has left. (Recommended for KS1/KS2 classes)
Option 2: Hinges and Gears - Using templates of joints, hinges and gears, pupils will be encouraged to build a 3D object with moving parts either printed in one piece of seperately for assembly. (Recommended for KS3 classes)
- Craft & Cut
Choose from 2 Craft & Cut options:
Option 1: Wooden Models - Using xTools Creative Space, pupils will be guided in the design of objects which can then be scored and cut out using our laser cutters. (Recommended for KS1/KS2 classes)
Option 2: Build a Box - Working from a box template, pupils will be able to design their own trinket or pencil pot using a range of images and shapes to personalise the panels. These will then but cut out using our laser cutters for assembly during or after the session. (Recommended for KS4 classes)
- 2D Animators
Using Stop Motion Studio, pupils will be given materials to create an animated movie with titles, credits and music. Themes consist of Space Explorers, Underwater Fun and Jungle Adventure. Completed animations will be uploaded to an individual playlist on the Libraries YouTube account which will be made available to the school. (Recommended for KS1/KS2 classes)
- VR Experience
Pupils will experience a playlist of 360-degree photos and videos, explorable/interactive scenes and look close up at 3D objects. Subjects and topics available are:

- Physics
SEND - Take a sensory journey experiencing skiing and a hot air balloon ride. Visit a relaxing waterfall and get up close to some interesting animals. Step into a virtual sensory room which provides a stimulating and calming environment.
